What is DXVA?

Plenty of decoding features.

Offloading decoding the video onto the the graphics card. I have a 7yr old athlon xp which is happily playing 1080p videos flawlessly with DXVA

For video I'd say MPC-HC with Coreavc or ffdshow. And AC3filter until recently had some issues with it, YMMV.

Yeah I've used coreavc ... still pretty heavy on the cpu though

That's what I've been doing for ages, haven't used VLC since.

Depends - I don't really see them as the same thing. VLC for video, Winamp for audio.

I hate it. I like to list my music folders in folder structure just like they are in explorer. If winamp could do this as good as foobar, then I'd use it
