Hi Guys,

I posted an issue in the gfx card forum as per thread below, but it got closed (i'm assuming it was in the wrong forum.)

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=3

The problem I am having is that using my 3870x2 card using the 8.3 drivers, when playing back my DVD's that I have ripped in in the xvid codec, there are black lines appearing on the left and top side of the video playback in VLC

Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Mana, as per your last post I ripped a dvd in x264 codec and it played without the black lines.

Lanz, I am playing the material through VLC which i believe uses FFmpeg decoder.

Thanks for your help.

Regards

yea not sure why that thread was closed. x264 rips that i have made play without the black lines. xvids that i have made play with black... like i said i can get rid of the xvid problem by unticky video overlay in vlc options but that gives slight tearing. dont really know what else to do, i have tried playing with other options in vlc but to no effect. i think this definately might be a driver issue. have u tried going back to an older version of cats?
