Normally 15ms.

Exactly the same problem.

30Mb/s no matter the time of day for as long as i can remember. Now I'm struggling to get 4.

Also pings are around the 40ms mark too.

Interesting we are on the exact same part of the network..

Code:
My UBR: cpc7-barn7-2-0-gw.barn.cable.virginmedia.com
Your UBR: cpc2-roth7-2-0-gw.barn.cable.virginmedia.com

Safe to say it's affecting Rotherham as well as Barnsley.

Gah - seems a lot of people are having issues.

Yours still slow JimAroo?

Seems like nrth-bb-1b-as2-0.network.virginmedia.net is the culprit.

I'm also getting 1-5Mbps speeds. :(

Pings still a good 30ms higher than normal, and still not able to get anymore than 3Mb.

Also, did your IP change? because mine changed yesterday and since that exact moment it's all gone downhill, I'm pretty sure VM have changed something.

seems so.

I know what they've done.

They've moved me from cpc4.barn to cpc7.barn.

That explains why I've been having problems as soon as my IP changed.

I'm guessing cpc7 is struggling for bandwidth, hence why i only get 3Mb download speeds compared to that of 30Mb that i previously received on cpc4.

The thing that irritates me is: If cpc7 is oversubscribed, then why move me from a perfectly fine box to an overcrowded one?

Users on these boxes are as follows:

cpc4: 255 IP addresses (92 hosts up)
cpc7: 255 IP addresses (165 hosts up)

So basically I've been moved to a box that has almost double the amount of people on it.

Well it's 1am and everything seems fine. Guess I will see if it stays the same on Sunday afternoon/evening.

but virgin say there isnt a problem

My connection has been dodgy all weekend, pretty much on and off every few seconds, seems to be staying on now but my pings aren't great, jumping between 16 and 50+ to bbc.co.uk

Check your downstream signal strengh (DB) in your modem settings (192.168.100.1) also check what your SNR is (Signal to noise ratio) on your line and put them here.

vm doesnt really have exchanges like ADSL, Theyre connected to taps in a green box nearby. If your signals are fine and your wiring is, tell a virgin techie you want to be moved to a different tap in the green box, It's only a 2 minute job.

All looks fine to me, Check all your wires all the way out to the box outside if you can and tighten them etc.

If the problem carrys on for more than 5-7 days then phone VM and tell them you need an engi out to move you to a different tap in the green box, It's useless telling someone in India this as they have no clue, Keep phoning untill your put through to someone at a UK call centre.
