VM Superhub 3 - VMDG 505

Hello All,

We just had virgin installed in our place and they've given us one of these Superhub 3 the white ones.

I have also just upgraded my PC.

Asus H110M-A motherboard.

I've installed all the network drivers etc

But every 4-5 mins i am getting connection drops via my wired connection. Thought it could have been the cable, changed that still the same. Got the latest LAN drivers.

Any ideas what it could be ? The wireless seems fine its just my PC the only wired connection in the house.

Tried the cable in a laptop. Same issue, random disconnects.

Father is gonna call VM tomorrow i believe. Rather odd how it only effects wired connection. Could it be something to do with the line attenuation ?
 
Yeah it's certainly odd for WiFi to be working while cable isn't.

Does the actual Local Area Connection show as disconnected? Or do websites simply fail to respond?

Next time it happens try pinging your superhub and bbc.co.uk from a laptop as well as your PC.


If it's just websites failing to load it could be a DNS issue, could try using Google DNS.
 
In that case it sounds like the hub's switch is faulty, as that's the only common thing (once you've tried different cables, devices and ports on the hub).

Give VM a ring and they'll probably arrange for a replacement within a couple of days.
 
Spoke to a guy over the phone says they are gonna monitor the connection over 24 hours........

If it still happens when i'm back from being away we are gonna demand a new router......
 
They will only monitor the fibre connection to the router, they won't have a clue about the Ethernet disconnecting.

Ask for a new one and say the Ethernet Ports on the router are faulty and I am sure you will get a replacement.
 
They are sending an engineer round on Wednesday. Guy on the phone said he was gonna try sort it from his end. My dad did say when it was installed the engineer said the line was being 'cooked' not sure if it still is and it messing the router.
 
Yeah gonna make sure i'm in and make him get me a replacement. My father did say will he have another router and they confirmed he would so no reason whe he cnt replace it.
 
Engineer came.......checked the line said it was coming through OTT.

checked it again and my pc was still dropping out. I made him change the router to an old one and everything is fine now.

Not a single drop out since.
 
Nah, i could be doing stuff like gaming and it still dropped.

Changed the router and its fine now. I can only assume the fact the line was running high ruined the router maybe.
 
The Superhub 3 is still being trialled so probably still a few bugs to iron out, new customers are the guinea pigs it seems.
