VMAX Armageddon

I am hearing some stories of some epic speeds coming back, of course by Pork! Best of the day was 222mph I hear and that was a 996 Turbo Cab, that looked standard! I will let Dangerous fill the gaps in, as he is there.

Some stories are best left untold.

Good to meet you Dangerous, hope you got some decent shots.

Perhaps then this thread should be closed? :p

I just dont see the point in a thread about an event thats invite only that cannot be spoken about afterwards..

It is hardly a secret event, it has its own section on Pistonheads for gods sake, which is already full of pictures (and stories hurfdurf....say nothing, don't allude to saying nothing in future I suggest) from the day and there are video's all over the web of these events (even including my car), though the best ones of course are from an excellent company called Northern Loop Productions PLC, a globally respected purveyor of high quality motor sports entertainment it says here! :D

Craig simply restricts the entry and is selective in who attends to keep control and ensure it doesn't get out of hand or full of people with little experience trying to max their cars and finding them exploding into a box of bits at the end of the runway. This is why you tend to get mainly serious cars but it's far from 'posh'. Its a burger van, some coffee, a mobile toilet (or some trees) but is well run, controlled and people behave themselves, which is all that Craig asks. Last thing he needs is loads of people lining the runway as cars come past at 222mph, it might get front page news if something goes bad.

It was a fantastic day, 191 in both David Yu's GTR Godzilla and a Ferrari 599. Standard Gallardo was my most exciting run, 182 and then finding it getting a bit wobbly on the breaking. The V10 R8 with the same engine seemed to handle it much better and made 184, with a manual box as well. Might of been down to the drivers, I think the R8 driver was more experienced with Vmax days.

I hear the GTR was level with the 599 the whole way? :D

Did the Focus RS turn up?

Full recovered now and Steve Hall has put up his pictures

Some video clips will be along shortly, probably edit at the weekend.

...and David Yu's GTR is pretty modified

Is it? Not including the wrap, the gash running lights and the canards, it's not had much done to it I thought. Map, filters and a borrowed exhaust last I heard.

edit - Those SV's look absolutely stunning.

Not sure and didnt want to ask :o

It must be hellish running out of brakes at VMax, that big bank at the end does not take prisoners. I remember trying to stop my RS4 for the first turn when I ran for the first time and not getting stopped in time, which was nerv inducing and still had turn 2 and loads of space. At 200mph and a lack of brakes....

Think this was what my manager went to, he had a Ferrari 599 GTB with custom plate ending in matt, and a mercedes clk convertible.
