I'm running an Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid x64 release in a VM, with the usual VirtualBox Guest Additions installed. 3D works perfectly (wobbly windows, transparency etc) and everything's great.
I just installed the 32 bit version of this OS for real on my brother's machine, as I'm sick of acting as on call tech support for XP niggles. I set up the Remote Desktop preferences in System > Preferences, and forwarded port 5900 in the router to the machine's static LAN IP.
I set up the Remote Desktop preferences in System > Preferences, and forwarded port 5900 in the router to the machine's static LAN IP.
However, when I try to connect to the machine via Remote Desktop Viewer or other VNC viewer app, I can see the remote machine's desktop, wallpaper and the mouse moving, and I can also take control of the mouse/cursor. However, none of the menus show up when clicked, nor do any open app windows. I can only see the desktop, panels, and the panel icons.
Does anyone have any ideas? Google is letting me down.
