Vodafone customer? Might want to read this...

It's not a change to the terms and conditions as such, but the charges related/included in those t&c's, which they've already acknowledged in several of the 'statements' on the forums. This is where they got the 14 days notification from, rather than the 30 days for a full change in the t&c's.

How easy/possible it'll actually be we'll see over the next month or two, but I certainly intend to try my hardest to cancel.

I'm not going to stop my DD though, that's just silly and it's not worth dealing with debt collectors/bad credit history etc. Even if they claim not to be changing the t&c's, whilst I claim they are, ultimately it's not up to them to decide that's where the regulator can/should step in and decide one way or another.

Either way, when I do get out of this contract with them, whether that's in a month or two, or just under a year when it actually runs out, I'm never going to use them again.

Some new info for you (seems quite reasonable to me):

Real-time data notifications switched back on for customers
This week we’re turning our alerting system back on to notify customers when they are coming to the end of their data allowance whatever handheld or Mobile Broadband device they are using. This is to reduce bill shock and allow customers to manage their data spend more effectively.

We’ve made some changes to the messages in the system since last month. All out-of-bundle messages for VMI domestic customers that relate to charging have been removed and customers will not be automatically charged for going over their bundle allowance.

Instead, customers will receive a text alert at 150%, 200% and 250% to tell them they’ve exceeded their allowance, and that a price plan / bundle with a higher data allowance might be more suitable. If customers continue to break their allowance we’ll let them know that we’re monitoring their data usage and ask them to choose one of the following options:

Upgrade to a higher data bundle / allowance e.g. CTR5 1GB price plan
Upgrade to a tethering bundle
£10 for 1.5GB
£15 for 3GB
Customers that are persistently over their allowance will be alerted by the credit team that they’ll need to pay over next month at published rates of:
£5 per 500mb for bundle customers
50p per 25mb for non-bundle customers

Please post back when you find out as I'll be eligible :)

I actually got an email from Vodafone after I posted on their forums asking me to tell them when was a good time for them to call me.
10 minutes ago they called.
From midnight tonight I will be on the 1GB data allowance.

I now know exactly where I stand.
I know it isn't 500mb FUP and I know some will think I've simply "sold out".
However any FUP is so ambiguous - I now know exactly how much allowance I've got each month.

So to get this, either post a message on the thread on the Vodafone forums and they will ask about calling you back.
Alternatively give customer care a call, explain you'd like to upgrade to the 1GB as per their forums and they will do it there and then for you.

Which Vodafone eforum trhead did you use to get them to call you btw or did you post a trhead?

I just phoned "customer care" as they asked me yesterday to call today only to be told by a Yasmeen that I am NOT eligible for this 1GB upgrade as I am already on a "commitment" and that the 1GB upgrade is only for new subscribers.

Now that's a bit WTF so I wish to post about this on the thread on the Vodafone forum as to why Customer Care is telling me one thing yet the eForum says another!

I just got off the phone with Vodafone customer services again and the floor supervisor is looking into my account following my conversation this morning.

It seems that the Vodafone post may indeed be correct but the SOC code hasnt been generated for it yet, thats what ive just been told.

So, in essence they are still breaking their own T+C with this, as they are introducing new rates. If you remember, there were no published standard out of bundle rates prior to this whole fiasco.
What they appear to gone back on giving customers the option to cancel due to the 10% clause.

Ok, I think its a stupid question but....I use my HTC Legend to tether internet to my netbook but i dont have a tethering plan on my contract? So will vodafone charge me more because im tethering without a plan?

I posted into this thread:

Try addressing your post directly to "Dave N" - as he was the guy who emailed me and then called me back this afternoon.

They can't determine the difference between normal use and tethered use, so no.

I Posted on the Vodafone forum yesterday afternoon and this morning I have received an email from the eforums fast response team saying they want to talk to me.
Looks like I might actually be getting somewhere. Hopefully 1Gb a month.

What phone do you have?

HTC Desire

Just got off the phone with Martin with regards to changing my data plan and Im sticking with 500Mb. My reason is if I change to 1Gb A) it is a hard cap and B) I loose my unlimited (3000mins) landline calls.
Martin has confirmed that for me the FUP will still apply but it is being policed more strictly now.

It appears from there website that both the Desire and Nexus one now come with 1Gb of data allowance and 5Mb a day for roamong data which for me is of no use and removed the unlimited landline offers.

I had a call from one of the eForum guys, he was helpful and attentive, we discussed the possible options I had in terms of changing my current price plan to more suit my usage and incorporate the 1GB upgrade, without it costing me more. Unfortunately the options were quite limited and we couldn't find anything I was happy with, so I'm sticking with my current situation, with a reassurance that if I do end up paying more than 10% extra on my bill due to these charges, then I will have the right to cancel. I've asked for an email to that effect, which he needs to check with his manager about, but he seemed happy enough to comply. He did point out that the 10% cancellation was covered in the main eForum announcement, so should be available to everyone it applies to.
I'm happy with the outcome, to be honest, all I want is to continue using my phone as I do, without it costing me more. So knowing for sure that in the even it ends up costing me more, I can leave, is enough for me.
