Also known as: Not paying attention to what you have bought.
I bought this: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-290-CS&tool=3
to put in this: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-514-AS
as part of an Ivybridge setup with an I3-3220.
However upon opening the ram, it states 1.65v on the inside packaging. As far as I am aware more than 1.5v on Ivybridge is a bad idea, and more than 1.6v is just no.
However it seems 1.65v is the tested voltage and 1600mhz is the tested speed. I am assuming that means I can potentially overclock to that speed using that voltage, and that the SPD voltage and SPD Speed of 1.5v and 1333mhz are what it will actually run at otherwise.
I'm honestly not sure and just assumed the ram was 1.5v when I ordered lol. On top of this it's a machine for my soon to be wife, who will enjoy mocking me if it turns out my "Computer building prowess" isn't as flawless as I made it out to be!
Any help will very much appreciated!
