Have just built a new rig, spec below, and I downloaded Asus PC Probe to check temps. (as I'm having an issue getting in to BIOS) The temperature for the 3.3v reads 4.08v and PC Probe is telling me this is too much.

Does anyone know what this might be and whether it matters.

Spec:
3800+ AMD X2
Freezer Pro 64
X850 GTO16
Asus A8R-MVY mobo
2gb Geil ram
Seasonic 450w PSU.

I take it you mean voltages?
Have a look in the BIOS before jumping to any conclusions- Windows monitoring apps are often less reliable.
Other than this, AFAIK a deviation of around +/- 5% is fine, but over that & you're asking for trouble.

Oh, if it's the minus lines then I believe you can ignore it full-stop as these are no longer used or summat like that.

Doh, yes I meant voltages.

The problem is I can't go to BIOS, when I press delete computer goes straight to booting windows. To get back in to BOIS after installing Windows I had to take the CMOS battery out of the motherboard for a few seconds.

I read another thread saying it could be a problem with having a PS/2 keyboard, but I'm dubious, as taking the battery out worked.

tbh, I'm at a loss as to how to solve the BIOS problem, never mind the high voltage issue :(

leezer3 is right your rails can be +-5% and still within normal operation, if you can't check in bios then if you have access to a multimeter I'd check with that as it will be more reliable than any software readings.

The -5v line and -12v line don't matter on most motherboards but on some they do(it might be Abit although I'm not 100%), I don't even know if a -3.3v line exists.

Asus PC Probe has been pretty reliable for me and reports stable voltages so it probably isn't that far out. Does your PSU have adjustable pots or anything because over 4v would be way too high normally.

I don't have a multimeter. I seem to be able to get in to BIOS if I flip out the motherboard battery. Will try it tonight. I don't think my PSU is adjustable, it's bundled with :

Arctic Cooling T2 Silentium Silent Midi Tower Case - 450W Seasonic Silent PSU (CA-001-AR)

I'll report back once I've checked the +3.3v line in BIOS.
