I want to replace the stock cooler on my E6600 to reduce noise. Looking in my mobo manual (D975XBX) it says:
"Use a processor heatsink that provides omni-directional airflow to maintain required airflow across the processor voltage regulator area"
It then shows a picture of the stock cooler.
Is this _really_ an issue?
If I use something like an ACF7, where the airflow is through the cooler, is there going to be problem? For what it's worth, there is a case fan to draw air over the VRs from outside and then two to blow air out from the VR area. Case temps are currently stabilising at 25-30 degrees.
