Is it possible to kill memory by running it 0.4v below its specification? (but still on its full clock speed)

Ta :~)

Thanks.

Is it common for memory to turn unstable after 3 days and then be completely dead after 7 days?

Tried upping the volts to the stock voltage?

If it's not working at stock voltage looks like it's time for RMA.

Did have another thread on it but that was on the premise that it was some sort of 4 sticks compatibility issue.

Basically if I put these 2 sticks into slots 1 and 3 the system won't turn on at all. Does this mean they're faulty? The other pair in the exact same slots work fine.

Just a bit concerned the company I bought them from is going to test them in their machine and say they're fine, costing me loads :/

PS: This is with the BIOS set to their spec'd voltage (2.1v).

All four sticks the same type? If they are there shouldn't be a compatibility issue.

I would test each stick by itself using Windows Memtest and see if it picks up any errors.

Yup all same and same manufacturing week.

I would test them all seperately, but at the end of the day they are sold as a pair and should work together right?

Also won't testing them on their own be a redundant test because it will be single channel mode and therefore much looser/more compatible timings will be used? When in dual channel the memory controller goes a bit anal about compatibility. That was my understanding anyway? :o

Testing the DIMMs individually can help isolate problems such as a bad MOBO, bad DIMM slot, etc. It is the most fundamentally correct way to test the memory. If you find a bad DIMM and request an RMA it is very likely that your retailer will ask if you have done this. And, make sure you test them at the rated voltage and timings.

All your trying to do is establish if the actual stick works without errors by testing each stick on it's own, you can worry about dual channel later on. If 1 stick is faulty then you'll have to return both anyway as the pair are sold as a single item.
