Having to re-overclock after it reset. Need to know about voltages though.

Using a Q9550 @2.80 GHz and overclocking to 3.4GHz 400 x 8.5

CPU voltage is on 1.31 volts which i think is the same as what it was on before it reset.

Thing is i dont have much of an idea what the CPU PLL voltage was and northbridge voltage? Im using a ASUS rampage forumula X48 Motherboard.

What voltages do you think i should set them to?

Thanks :)

Don't worry too much about PLL, its more for fine tuning.

Northbridge voltage differs from system to system. Try around 1.4v to start and work down from there. If you've got 4 RAM sticks you may need a bit more.

Hi thanks for that. Il set PLL to 1.52 i think which is what it says in the BIOS.

As for northbridge voltages im pretty sure it was set to 1.5v and that tested fine, think i should go with that or maybe a bit lower?

Also what about prime 95 testing. Should i go for small FFts or blend, bear in mind though im not overclocking memory?

Thanks

1.5 should be fine, mine is the same.

Ideally you want to test Prime for 24hrs on Small FFT's and on Blend.

Clearly though this is a bit of a hassle. If its stable on small FFT's, just see how you get on, if you get lots of programmes crashing or blue screens, maybe its time to do a Blend test and fiddle with ram timings (oh joy!)

Tested with Prime 95, 17 hours stable which is great! This time ive written my OC settings down.

Temps are as follows when under load:

CPU 40-45c under load
All four cores are around 57-63c under load

This is with my Antec 1200 case fans on a medium speed. CPU fan at full speed.

Are these temps ok? I think they are.

Thanks

Congrats, its all lookin pretty damn good.

Yep, temps look fine. Nothing you do in 'normal' use will load your cpu as much as prime so you could probs turn your fans down most of the time. Quick and quiet, that's the way.
