Potentially a silly question, but i'll ask anyway.

Is there a difference between ;

Windows output at 100% and then reduce speaker/headset to 50%

Or

Headset at 100% and then reduce the source output ?

Thx.

I always thought it seems the general consensus is source ~70-75% then control the volume with the amp, get possible distortion, clipping and what have you if the source is at max. Obviously it all depends what you're listening to and the equipment you have to reach a level you're happy with.

Thanks for the information. I didn't notice distortion issue before.

I think you shouldset PC volume at 100% then control from amp.
I use a uDac2 and to be able to get a full 24bit 96khz signal the pc volume should be left at 100%.
I beleive this stops windows/software proccesing the sound.

ps. I got some ath-m50s today and they are litterally incredible. ;)
