volume randomly going up and down

As title says. i have a audigy 2zs installed and just lately the volume randomly goes up and down and i cant find the reason for it.
Motherboard is a gigabyte 880gm-ud2h and i cant get the onboard sound to work either (it never has but as i had the audigy i didn't bother sending it back).
The optical out work fine tho.
If anyone has any suggestions on the problem im happy to try stuff or should i
1 get a new soundcard
2 get a DAC

only listen to music while working at computer

it might be a software problem?

if windows check - control panel > sounds
see if there are any options for volume auto balance/adjustment and disable this.

might be worth checking before spending money and having the same problem

at least you know, i hate when stuff like that happens

but a perfect excuse to upgrade

Its usually the remote that fails first on amplified speakers. When mine eventually give up ill be getting a separate amp and passive speakers. Hope you can get them sorted out.
