I have a Netgear Ready NAS, Is there anything I can do regarding shadow copy? restoring previous versions.
The drive isnt used as a backup and is the main data drive. Stupid users will delete files :(

It depends how you're using the NAS. If it's conencted via iSCSI or some such technology then yes you can snapshot it with VSS. But if it's being an SMB share it might not be so easy. I haven't really used ReadyNAS so i dunno how far up the feature ladder they go and whether they can do snapshots on the NAS itself.

I thought the ReadyNAS range supported Snapshots which could be scheduled - worth having a poke round the GUI.

I don't know if the 1100 is supported yet but there's also the ReadyNAS Vault which uses Elephant Drive (which uses Amazon S3) to provide off-site backup over the 'Net.

Thanks for that, Yes it does do snapshots :) Now I wonder when it resizes the volume does it delete all data!?!?

I think i'll wait for a backup to finish. Thanks for your comments.

IT shouldn't do if you're making it bigger. It might possibly if you're shrinking it. Usually if you can do a live re-size it won't lose anything, else that feature is somewhat pointless.
