Volvo 740GLE

You purchased this car to thrash & rag about in, what's the TypeR for then ?
Do you just look at it?

I imagine he is a bit more careful with his Type-R.

Are the suspension & brakes better on the 740's than the 940's?

Because my dads has some insane body roll on it

I had the misfortune of clouting a Volvo 740 (E reg iirc) with my 44ton Scania, I cannot tell you how surprised, and, impressed I was when it drove away after being pulled from the ditch it had ended up in!

The truck required a headlamp & indicator, plus some cosmetic damage, the Volvo had a crease in its O/S/F wing and that was all !!!!

The Volvo driver had stuck his nose out, and edged into the road as I was passing @ 25MPH, The impact spun the Volvo round and into said ditch.

I hate Volvo's with a passion, but, if I had to be in a car in an accident, that 740 would be high on my list.

Have fun with it mate, just avoid trucks please. :p :D

well my journey to work, is all of 1 mile and about 3 mins, during that time, my type r doesnt even get warmed up, and im thinking even though the engines are bulletproof, its un-nessesary wear and tear on the engine, so if i can take the volvo to work more often than not, it will save wear on the type r. I'll use the Type r for everything else.

yeah but im disabled, cerebal palsy, so i cant walk far at all.

Just been out for a spin in it, its a right laugh, had a few sideways moments round roundabouts, but only because its wet and provoked. goes pretty well too once wound up :D superb fun for £100

Still not bad for £100. Ive had 2 new front tyres put on, and got a new fuel sender off ebay for £15, and thats really all that needs doing to it. Everything else works - heated leather seats, electric windows/sunroof, electric mirrors, heated windscreen. radio. The seats are the most comfy ive ever sat in too.

Why buy a Type-R so you can leave it on the drive to cruise around in a Volvo..

It's a Honda that won't let you thrash it from cold, short journeys won't kill it.

ive decieded i dont really use it enough to warrent it sitting around so im gonna sell the Type R and just use the Volvo to get to work and back. Thinking of getting the Morgan ive always wanted - for the weekends and nice weather too - it wont depriciate like the Type R, which will take a hit when the new one comes out next year.

That is in great condition :)

Do you reckon one of those would last a 600 mile journey to the south of France? What size is the engine on it?
