Volvo EX30

How many numbers are being banded about. It’s 3.6 on the Volvo website
Ah, sounds rubbish in that case.

Edit: I also refuse to give the utterly pathetic carwow clicks, especially with those click bait titles. The EX30 is aimed at a totally different demographic.
What's "utterly pathetic" about it? If it's not for you that's fine, not sure I would describe it as "pathetic" though.

rather than going full "3" and putting everything
thanks, I'll add that to my (gpt) vocabulary
[I must write down a must have's list for car purchases - it would be all to easy to get carried away with a model 3 (winter) purchase and find the centre display doesn't work with polarized glasses
]

Wierd, my sunglasses are polarised and are fine. Might be that screens not been put in right and there's stress there
Before you mention it, I've checked by routing my phone screen so I know they are actually polarised :p .

Are you serious? Do you find it useful when that utter clown throws a parcel shelf on the ground, or tries to poke a stick in a vent. Every mainstream car review site works in click bait “model Y beater”, or “better than a Tesla”. The very fact they had a click bait title shows how meaningless their reviews are.

I found out far more useful info from actual owners on dedicated car forums.

Glad Geely are at least trying to bring a good more normal sized electric car out under a few badges. Still a CUV style but can't win them all. However looks potentially a bit compromised on the interior to accomplish that (the good old thigh support issue of some BEV designs, used to seeing it on the back seats but looks like it could also be an issue on the fronts).

Curious to see what the warmer MG4 can offer up as well over the standard.

Guess whose back - those Geely folks
german tax break point for luxury cars seems to be 60Ke bit more than UK at 40K£ so guess it wouldn't be a bargain here.
they need to get one of these up on a ramp and comment on build quality, suspension type .. not a complete tear down like munro, but something in between.

more Geely
... waiting for some tear down on the mechanics of such cars
if it's like the ev6 monro tear down (asia/pacific too - not geely) beauty is skin deep

Volvo started ex30 tv adds

One area of concern is the fall in profit margins of BEVs versus Volvo’s ICE-powered vehicles: down to just 3% compared to 21% for the ICE cars and also down on the 8% margins recorded for BEVs for the full-year 2022. Volvo’s chief financial officer Johan Ekdahl says this was due to a temporary increase in lithium costs for batteries purchased when prices peaked in 2022, and this will see a marked reduction later this year.

During the quarter, sales of BEVs increased 178% year-on-year and accounted for 16% of the automaker’s total share. Here, Rowan highlights the successful launches of the brand’s first purely BEV-designed vehicles, the Volvo EX90 and EX30. He feels the SUV models, when in full production, will be more profitable than the existing XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge BEVs that were built on hybrid-designed platforms.

Specifically mentioning the EX30, Rowan says: “We’re really excited about this car and will offer it with two different battery types to allow us to bring down the cost base for the customer. We think the difference in options, from what is coming back to us from consumers, suggests that we have got this just right and this will be a high-volume model for us.”

He also believes the EX30 will address Volvo’s low BEV profit margins. The automaker expects gross margins on the car in the range of 15% to 20%. Rowan adds: “Although the car is small, we think it represents a huge opportunity for us. With this car, we will enter a new segment and a new demographic for the company, one that will help us grow rapidly in the coming years.

this comment sums it up
It is a vehicle based on the Chinese Zhejiang Geely Holding Group SEA Platform (Sustainable Experience Architecture), which is to be sold in the premium segment with the "Volvo" brand label.
If you sell the small car too cheaply, then it loses its status value in the well-heeled middle class segment

pity UK doesn't have leasing deals like germany
e300/month for an ex30 15Kmiles/36months
https://www.leasingmarkt.de/leasing...p=15&ews=1&ins=1&sort=rate&adVariant=21762518

Haven't seen Uk leasing sites provide a leasing factor where you can rank cars by the ratio of lease price to car value

sure leaseloco pretty much does that?
can't see it/leasing factor - below is ex30 example of what I mean , seems to be common parlance for eu leasing value discussions,

however especially for lease deals with car companies themselves, you never know what the notional cost of the car is, though
and whether they just play the long game to ensure a second hand market supply for their resellers.

This is what I am thinking of getting next in the top twin motor spec.
I currently have a Kia Nitro EV as my company car and the EX30 is almost identical in size but 20cm shorter. I am 6'4 and have masses of space if I sit in the back currently so I am not bothered about the slightly shorter wheelbase.
Presuming the materials internally live upto expectation I don't think there is much to think about at 44k, not including the massive satisfaction of leaving lads in Focus RS' with a dumbfounded look at the lights as an old man Volvo milk float disappears off in the distance

its the gangstas in the blacked out bmw 118d that seems to have a beef with everyone
though the ex30 is more the size of a supermini so don't know if the volvo old man adage will stack up lol
but yea...seeing a dual motor ex30 outdrag those pesky gangstas would be a funny sight

I'm not really sure on the size thing, I think it's more 'compact suv' or whatever the current buzz phrasing is.
We have 3 xc40 recharges at work and my Niro is a bit small in terms of chassis length. So another 20 off for the Ex30 wouldn't be the end of the World, but certainly a pocket rocket.
Hopefully both Volvo and MG have started to shake up the EV market with significantly cheaper, sub 4 second cars.

It's just the boot space that puts me off.

I think this could be a cracking little car, not sure of what other options interest me if not Set a budget of 50k for something sub 4 seconds and I don't think a model 3 performance will come under that
