Voodoo 5 6000 remade

Yes, i ran it on my 2002 vintage Athlon 600 system *back in the day* Socket A. No dont have that anymore, it is very much long gone (about the time i got rid of BT Home Highway, ISDN internet )

So its a box queen now then? Shame. Not easy to even get older motherboards as capacitors on them can be dodgy, and on the card itself over time. I know there was an odd adapter that was knocking about years ago that made agp compatible with pci so might be something it would work with, i remember a guy in the x3dfx forums using one though cant recall if it was for a 5500 or 6000.

My first ever upgrade in 2000-ish saw me going from my self built 1998-ish AMD K6-2 450mhz CPU with the original Voodoo 3D PCI card (no idea what my 2D card was) to a Intel Slot 1 800mhz CPU with a Voodoo 5 5500 AGP and I remember being blown away at the HUGE jump in performance to all my old 3DFX games.

Sadly my 5500 AGP died quite quickly (<3 months) and 3DFX had gone under by then so I ended up getting a Matrox G400 instead, an absolutely terrible card in comparison!

My favourite series of artwork on any GPU packaging.

Oh yes! I've got a few still. They're my preciouses. :P

I didn't realise they made a 5800.

You had a 6000, nice. :)

They didn't, some of those boxes are reproductions and some didn't exist at all.

The only reproduction box is the 6000 based on photos from an old press sample; and the 5000 based on old adverts in magazines.

The 5800 was only a planned prototype, and the 6000 never had a comercial box.

Everything else in the photos are originals, with original cards inside. Some still factory sealed. I have open ones of them also.

Pal I know makes the 5800 cards, essentially modded 5500's, that have 128MB, and two Rev320 chips that run at 200Mhz over the stock 166mhz.

I created the boxes for it, and the 6000, and now 5000 for my pals that own the V5 5000 prototypes. :)
