Bit off topic here but whilst it has been mentioned - this forum is by far the most simple, usable and intuitive forum on the net, period. I would hate to lose the way this forum operates and looks for a newer platform because honestly every other forum is terrible. Quoting works great here, we have basic font/colour selections, we can easily put in images. Its fast to load. I dont know how other forums manage to screw such a simple thing up so badly but they do.

All mods, along with the staff who have used this forum for the longest, are part of the team who're being asked to proof the changes. That's the best we can hope for really.

An idea would be to ask those interested to post in a thread, then PM them a code

Not sure if this can be automated on the forum side, but would avoid everyone and their nan seeing the codes

Automation is not a capability of our current set up.

The members market is the only viable place because every other option requires major alterations to how the forum works and we don't want to wait weeks to get started.

We need a process which doesn't require us to hire someone full time just to handle issuing of codes.

Now this is what I call rewarding loyal customers. Although I haven't spammed the forums enough to qualify, and not that I need a card now as I was fortunate with an FE drop. I appreciate what Gibbo and Co are trying. It is now down to the forum members to make sure they play their part and don't leak the code so that this system works for the benefit of the rest of the forum goers going forward.
I was also fortunate enough to benefit from one of Gibbo's limited time deals few years back when he posted a limited number for cards on the general forum, grabbed a ASUS 1080ti Strix back then for below the going rate at the time.
Good luck to all those that are looking to get a card still and remember OCuk did not have to do this, in the current market they could put up the cards at whatever price they are currently going everywhere else.

As an e-commerce professional, you probably understand better than most that things aren't as simple as they seem to be when you have multiple systems, multiple platforms, written at different times by different people to do specific, focused jobs. the forum software is outdated, as are out internal systems. The website is newer but wasn't specifically developed for us. The forum/account link for free shipping was basically a hack and as I said

admittedly I have no idea what you've used to implement your systems

Of course, as I said, I don't know anything concerning your situation so would be unable to provide any useful consultancy. Not to mention the trust issues associated with discussing such matters on a public forum.

I'm also well aware of people's struggles, especially with off the shelf systems. I've seen hack jobs on every kind of system from the painfully backward wordpress fails to strange legacy tech's nobody thought still existed. I've also seen the multi-million contracts for fully custom distributed microservice's on top of an enterprise service bus.

All I'm saying my dude is that I recommend bringing some resource in-house and continuing to develop features to reward the community, even if it's not possible now, keep the thoughts in the back of your mind for when the requirements gathering phase of your future projects kick off. I personally would have lost interest if it wasn't for the fantastic community and willingness for the staff here at OCUK to engage with us. It is a real strategic asset for you, and recommend that you leverage it going forward.

@ScottiB Can you systems check the orders and quickly filter out those with/without free delivery?

Northern Irland users don't get free delivery.

They will need to update it for security fixes though even if functional, because not doing so could lead to getting hacked easier.

It’s balmy the lengths people will go to get cards and many shallow people simply can’t keep their mouths shut in the search for upvotes and thanks in places like Discord and HUKD.

I’ll give it a maximum of 5 minutes until the codes appear elsewhere.

It’s great of Gibbo and the rest to do this, it really is, but I just think it’s sadly doomed to failure.

Sadly that's not true. Ever since OCUK and other retailers swapped to DPD we no longer get free delivery up here unless it's either cheap or lightweight. A GPU cost's £9.90 for a two day delivery from OCUK (it's £15.99 from Scam!!) so your idea wouldn't work. Surely they can see forum linked accounts although that may take manual sorting which is impractical?
