VPN Leaking?

Thanks for all the suggestions guys
this isn’t something I’d be aware of as I have a BT Home Hub, I’ll have to look into flashing it maybe

Not sure you can flash the home hub, I tend to keep it as a spare for any BT line issues.

Depending how much you like tinkering, you may want to consider a Raspberry PI and linux, an older one V2, V3 should be fine.
Windows has a habit of doing updates even when you thought you'd locked everything down which is a pain if your 3000 miles away.
A PI also has fairly trivial power usage, plenty of guides about.

I actually have a non used desktop upstairs , I could use that as a VPN server, are they any good guides on how to set this up?

WireGuard will be much easier to set up than OpenVPN. It's wasteful in terms of horsepower and electricity to run an old system just as a VPN host. If you can run Docker, do that. If not, a Raspberry Pi or virtual machine on any existing device will do just as well. Look at PiVPN for point and click setup. Despite the name, it can run on any Debian install, not just on a Pi.
