VPN with dedicated IPv4 address

I'm thinking about signing up to a VPN service that gives you a dedicated IPv4 address because then I can firewall all my servers to only allow SSH etc from the dedicated IP address. It doesn't fix all security issues but it'll certainly help.

I'm curious if anyone has a VPN for a similar reason? I've been looking at NordVPN and ExpressVPN but I'm open to other options.

I think NordVPN offers a dedicated IP service for their VPN packages, I haven't used as I'm not too sure I would trust a static IP option from a VPN provider, if anything I'd rather host my own OpenVPN instance in somewhere like Azure, G-Cloud, AWS or one of the other hosts where you can bolt on a static IP as part of the subscription :)

Thank you. I mean I could set up a little VPS with Linode or someone else but I'd rather not have to manage it myself which is why I was thinking of getting one from another company.

Oh and something else I forgot. These VPN providers also offer ad blocking which would be a nice bonus.

Although I could use Pihole instead I guess.

I think I would break it down into key requirements for what you are looking for :)
  • Secure method to access/lockdown access to resources
  • Adblock protection
  • Ease of use
For the first you could skip the hosted VPN and just make it so that you have a VPN internally to whatever networks you need access to (You could even use something like CloudConnexa so you can have multiple nodes with the minimum access for ports and services into your network)

For the latter two that then frees you up to whatever VPN/service provider you would prefer to use e.g. Nord, TordGuard, Mullvad etc. For personal usage I really like Mullvad + a good Adblocker solution :)

I can send you a friend referral link, for Nord if you like? It would get you 3 months extra on a 1 or 2 year plan. I also use it with a dedicated IP as well (wanted to try it out for a year). Shame you have to pay extra for it. The threat features are nice to have, it gives you anti-malware (so a malware scanner and vulnerability scanner), browsing protection (malicious website blocker, scam and fraud alert and a search safety indicator), and ad and tracker blocker (ad blocker, tracker blocker and url cleaner).

Might be looking at it slightly different here but if it's site to site have you looked at tailscale? Supports ssh by the looks of it too.

I'm running tailscale on my unraid server and can access jellyfin (which has it's own docker tailscale ip) remotely from any other device I have with tailscale but ONLY if it has tailscale and has my permisison etc (you can set up rules etc on tailscale dashboard too). Even hooked it up to a domain name using the IP address and you can only access it with tailscale active.
