Ha haa, free they said... 5 or 6 years ago I tried out that free flight sim game called DCS... I've spent over £1500 on software, joysticks (incl throttle and rudder), and have learned a little lua scripting to now run a dedicated server to build a playground for my fly-time.

The feeling of flight is 2nd to none that I've tried, and helicopters are wonderful.

I must admit I have a love hate relationship with it though... but I'll not sully things here.

5-6 years of "entertainment" for £1500 ... sounds like an absolute bargain..

I once went on a pleasure flight in a 1950s Chipmunk trainer. Amazing experience, very close to flying in a WW2 aircraft, and I even got to fly it for 10 minutes!

Shortly afterwards I got IL2 Sturmovik and played it on my Rift CV1 with my Saitek HOTAS and rudder pedals. I got flashbacks to when I was flying the real aircraft, it felt THAT close.

There is nothing amazong about the Chippy, went up in them a few times in the early 90's as I was in the air cadets...
No power, had to dive to do a loop, and you were pretty much stalling over the top..
Thought I was gonna fall out once, they'd strapped me in, but not tightened the straps, as we stopped at the top of the loop I dropped what, realistically, was a few inches, but it was an unnerving experience...
They used to tell us they were safe, but we'd to wear a chute and watch Jump Johnny Jump before we flew...

92% off. Looks fun :)

This is not the first time I have tried to buy a game that I already own.!

They were great fun. Barely enough power to get out of their own way.

Had a really good laugh once when getting the chute on. I undid the leg straps and before standing straight up, the person opposite who had never worn one before didn't and tried to stand straight up like I did. There was a sudden ow from him as something got trapped under one of the leg straps, he then couldn't stand straight up. :D
