VR for dummies

My pc setup is in a 43" square walk in cupboard, in there I have a cobra clubman bucket seat, reverb G2, flight setup (hotas/rudder) and full driving setup (wheel/pedals/shifter/handbrake).

I play seated vr exclusively because I actually cannot stand up and have had no issues with half life alyx or Skyrim vr. I have punched the walls a couple of times by accident when flailing in Skyrim but nothing serious. I obviously don't play the highly motive standing games like beat sabre etc because I can't but on the whole I've got vr for simming.

Constricted space vr can be done but you have to accept it's limitations. I think most games these days allow for seated play.

I'll try to grab one :D

edit: the steering wheel rim is stashed above the reverb hanging from the underside of the shelf.

The seat cost me 30 quid on eBay, it's tatty but comfy as hell, hacked into an office chair base to give swivel, lift and tilt. I've cut the notch out of the seat cushion and added a socket to slot the warthog stick into, seat cushion is reupholstered using 4 way stretch carpet left over from our camper van self build.

To fly I have to retract the keyboard tray and tilt the seat back, to driver I have to fit the wheel rim and tip the seat forwards. Kinect360 on the shelf at the top left for head tracking when not in vr. The stick is stashed on a little shelf on the right when not in use.

Rudder pedals are TM RCS hacked into a usb solution with a cannibalised Logitech wheel, driving pedals are TM t3pa pros hacked apart and narrowed to suit the space available.

Computer itself is a hacked together open wall mount case to get it out the way and keep thermals awesome.

Still, with a Quest 2 you can take it anywhere - you don't have to use it in your house. I need to get around to using mine in a local church hall, which has masses of space. Would easily be able to max out the guardian.
