A friend of mine wants a PC VR setup for driving games, which is what he pretty exclusively plays.

He's got a Logitech wheel & pedals that he uses with his PSVR and he thinks it's PC compatable, so for now he needs the PC and VR system.

He also wouldn't want to build it himself, is that going to limit his options if he went with a pre-built one from OCUK, or do they assemble any chosen components?

Get a quest 3?? If he is using a logitech steering wheel, he isn't exactly splashing the cash on his set up, so a q3 should be perfect

So how does that work with reference to my friend wanting to play PCVR racing games? (I know nothing about the Quest 3)

Can your friend not sign up to forum? then you wont have to relay everthing, and might learn something?

Best thing about them is you can use them wireless, and connect to steam and play any VR games, but as he will be sat down, would be better just to plug it into the pc

That would be easier for sure, but if he was going to do that, he wouldn't have asked me to do it for him.

Well he doesn't have a (gaming) PC, just a laptop for work, hence my asking for PC suggestions in the OP :)

I was just unsure with you suggesting the Quest 3, which can be a stand alone VR, about whether the headset did the processing or he still needed a suitable PC to run the game and it just sends the visuals to the Quest.

I'm no expert in VR (don't use it), but from what I'm aware, they can be pretty demanding on the PC due to the high resolution and nvidia is typically preferred over AMD, because of their superior encoders and better VR driver/software support. I don't know if AMD's RX 7000 have improved things enough to recommend them.

For racing games, the X3D CPUs do very well in some games, though not all respond the same way to the cache.

This is the minimum kind of pre-built PC I'd be thinking about.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £1,299.95 (includes delivery: £0.00)

2K5 is enough to go all-out with the latest gear (note my changes to the base spec in the title):

Total: £2,365.03 (includes delivery: £0.00)
