The graphing feature in Rivatuner allows you to check how much VRAM gets used if you haven't already tried it

GPU only needs to reserve some MMIO space - and aperture if you will - so that the memory on it can be accessed from the system. Typically around 200-600Mb depending on hardware - its very rare for it to actually map 1:1 with the amount of VRAM on the card.

Well from when I started on pc's my 1st gpu was 16mb then 32 then 64 the 128 then 256 then 512 then 1024 so its only natural that next gen gpu's will be 2048mb as standard like the 2gb gtx 285's that are out.
