VS205 hangs when switching to release/debug

I have to switch between release and debug mode quite often, but every time I do it takes at least 2 minutes. This is different to 2003, would anyone have any ideas why this may be occuring

Tried VS2008?

From Google (although related to 2003):

I would check your project build/output path. Make sure it is the same as the
Debug build path e.g. if Debug is $(ProjectDir)\Debug then Release is
$(ProjectDir)\Release.

VS2008 isnt an option unfortunately. We've only just moved to 2005!

This doesnt happen to anyone else in the office and we all use the same source

Interesting, have removed the main project, closed/restarted dev studio and then added it in again... now the solution loads faster and the switch is instant...

VS2008 is miles ahead of VS2005. Our project loads in about 10% of the time it did in 2005
