Sort of. The game renders everything in 1440p then resizes it to show on as 1080p. Ends up with smoother edges to all the models and slightly clearer textures.

It doesn't effect how the monitor runs, but because its rendering at 1440p the game will likely see a big drop in FPS depending on the graphics card. The monitor refresh rate will still be 144hz, but if the graphics card can only manage ~60fps thats what you'll get.
