Vsync stutter in every game

Ever since the Battlefront drivers i've noticed my fps stuttering when i use vsync, i usually use VSync aswell as rivatuner to lock to 60fps, but ever since a few drivers ago i just get a stutter when turning, the frametime goes into the 18 area and the fps shows 59.8-59.9 when it does this.
I tried reverting my drivers back but the issue remained.
Gsync does the same thing so it isnt much help.

I find using SLi helps but it isnt a case of not being able to achieve said framerates in the first place, it just seems to be a vsync issue.

My build is

MSi Gaming 7 z97 Mobo
SLI 970
16GB Kingston Hyper X Savage
i7 4790k @4.0 stock clocks.

I game on an Asus Rog Swift

I would use Vsync off if it wasnt for the ungodly amount of screen tearing the 970s seem to produce even when the fps is locked to 60, not so much 120 etc but i dont want to be pushing my fps in games that cant really achieve that sorta levels.
 
Have you tried using Nvidia's v-sync rather than in-game vsync?

Use triple buffering?

Checked that your display settings haven't somehow changed to 59hz or something?
 
I found turning vsync off ingame and enabling adaptive vsync in NV control panel usually works well fwiw.
You might need to restart after enabling it in NVCP.

358.59. One with the Gsync fix apparently, but nothing seems fixed.

I dunno, it's only appeared since i got my Rog Swift and the new drivers came out, but i took off the rog swift and used my old benQ and the issue remained and now i'm confused hah, i run Vsync for everything because id rather a bit of input lag with my controller than fullblown fullscreen tearing at times.

Adaptive Vsync doesnt help.

Just for giggles, and I'm sorry if you've already said it but try turn off g-sync in control panel, does it help?
I mean I know you said you changed monitors but do the settings get confused :X ?

Gsync is always turned off on my end, just checked still is, i really dont like it and dont find it works as it was advertised atall.
 
Right now my sort of, current workaround is run my pc at 144hz and set the ingame fps to 72, halved of the refresh rate i get the smoothness and less screen tearing, but id rather have my lovely vsync back :ooo

I noticed it isnt every single game, i've had an ok time with Mad Max and Metal Gear, but Dishonoured, Half Life 2, Aliens, Hard Reset and Bound by Flame are suffering, right now thats the majority :O
 
Try turning off all of your PC's power savings modes, just for giggles.

I'll give that a go, current i know that i have all the cpu power options turned off (i do that on every reinstall of windows)

I've tried swapping what gcard the main monitors plugged into but that doesnt help, gave the drivers a reinstall. The only difference from a month ago is im on an MSI board now instead of a Asus, but the issue wasnt there on installing the mobo and the comings weeks until the battlefront driver.
 
I can't understand how you don't like G-Sync...It does what you are trying to achieve. Am I missing something here?

G-Sync on, vsync off in nvcp. Maybe try another dp lead ?

I just said it doesn't achieve what i want, in a lot of ways it's even worse and barely compatible with most things i've tried, i've never liked it. Just how i like to game.

I have one game it works amazingly in, and thats Sleeping Dogs.

You must be doing something wrong. I've never seen anyone say anything like this about G-Sync.

Mileage may vary i guess, doesnt work as advertused on two seperate rigs on two seperate gsync enabled monitors

It is nvidia after all, they usually promise the world and provide a slum.

you using shadow play to show fps?

Just rivatuner.
 
Could you give a little more detail as to what G-Sync isn't doing?

I don't have a G-Sync monitor, but I was thinking about it, so your opinion would be interesting.

Gsync is advertised to sync the monitors refresh rate and change it dynamically to match the framerate being supplied by the gpu.

Advertised to remove stuttering, reduce input lag (which it does) and a few other things. But i rarely find gsync works cause it stutters anyway when it varies between 70-90 fps. In a lot of games, some work great, most dont work properly atall.

Sleeping Dogs is amazing with gsync for example, dishonoured is a wreck with it

Gsync does exactly what it says it does. Just because it cant completely hide the wonkiness that occurs during framerates that vary(inevitable) doesn't mean it isn't working properly. It is still smoothing it out as much as possible and eliminating the tearing that would normally occur.

Obviously you are free to prefer the inherent smoothness of a capped framerate, but that doesn't mean Gsync is bad or doesn't work.

I understand that, but when the minority of games work amazingly and the majority make it worse (I'm not saying it does for everyone, for me it stutters more with the framerate varying and gsync being on that it does gsync being off and letting the framerate vary as it would and just have the judder of uneven framerate from the refresh rate)
