VW Compensation?

The system is a bit different over here but you never know

I'd love to hear justification on what people think they have actually lost though for those who are shouting about compo (there are lots)
 
Compensation for what? Which UK tests did VW cheat their way through (ie that they'd have failed otherwise)?

It strikes me that the worst outcome for UK buyers is that they ended up with lower road tax than they otherwise would have...
 
One of the things Ive noticed, is that the value of VW cars (Passat in my case) seems to have taken a hit.

Pre-scadal, Autotrader was around £14k for a VW Highlight 13 Passat with 30k on the clock.
Now its more like £12 or less.

A £13,988 hit on value would be hard to swallow I'll admit :p
 
A point I have pondered over is, when they rectify these issues, there is a possibility that it could change our emission levels I would imagine, this then would put us in a higher tax bracket no doubt.

Why don't we use actual data from expert industry analysts rather than anecdotes?

Currently, a 2013 Passat Highline 2.0 TDI has a trade value of £10,540 and a retail transacted value of £12390.

Lets take a look at the pre-scandal value.

This time in August, it had a trade value of £11050 and a retail transacted value of £13k.

So it's dropped about 600 quid in the space of 2 months. Which sounds about right for a late model Passat - depreciation of about £3600 a year in the second year of its life.

Not £4k.
 
Doubt it, dealers don't randomly start dripping prices a month after it all kicked off - would take months if not years

Well I hope you are right, but I was/am checking prices of Passats from week to week (very sad I know), and this was what I genuinely witnessed on Autotrader.

Fox - where are you checking those prices? Link would be good.

EDIT: Ok just checked AT right now at there are two 13 Passats @ 30kmiles each (Highline) for £14-£14.5k....

Hmm something doesn't add up.

Have to agree with that, nothing wrong really with the cars, governmental rules are all wrong.

Genuine question.

Surely if fuel consumption levels are also reported incorrectly then this would be grounds for compensation as the consumer was sold the car at a "reported" of X mpg / l/100km?

(Especially in my case where I get paid per mile (but have to pay for my fuel) and based my calculation on the reported consumption levels when I purchased my car (as much as one can where fuel consumptions are concerned).
 
As if US folk need excuses to sue anyone, lot of people are getting a payout over there. See what any class action suits bring to the table, this is just the first offer from VW.
 
Forget the ppi or "have u had an accident"cold calls it will now be "have u owned a tractor engined VW in the last 3 yrs?" Then you are entitled to compensation for all the taunts and stress that u have endured thanks to the recent Emission scandals. "Not to mention your ill health you now must be suffering thanks to those extra fumes coming from the exhaust". :p
People in the Uk love a good claim nowadays

Exactly, you'll probably find they're as good as the competition on real world scenarios
