VW Fox on scrapage scheme

Sounds like you've already made your mind up.

Thats normal rate, some are lower though like Merc @ 5.9%.

I wish it was me buying the car, but as it is not I am struggling to win her round now she has driven the fox... apparently she like the seat pattern...wtf women are mental sometimes!

And in other news her dad says that Hyundai's are rubbish so she wont look at them.... ahhhh!

Also a big selling point on the FOX is the amount of space you get for the money, no others we have looked at had this...but they did have things like A/C which she does not want or need.
As a film student she moves a lot of equipment around so this was a massive plus for her... looks like the i10 might be similar to the Kia and Daihatsu in terms of space?

I think someone has already made their mind up :)

my mother has a fox and yes it is crap, but she likes new cars and the finance is something stupid like 70quid a month, far far cheaper than anything else she looked at!

As you say it is pretty big too for a small car, the back seats are damn good too but like most small cars access is the biggest problem

Man up and put across her failure.

Spending a this amount a month on a crap small car becuase it has cute lines is up there with dipping your head into a bowl of conc Sulphuric acid.

Try harder!

when my mother bought hers it was a good deal, a pre registered car so it was way under list and had a few extras. Free servicing and warranty means that she knows exactly how much its going to cost her. Like most on here i don't believe in new cars but if you must have one seems a good way of doing it.

As a very happy owner of an Hyundai i20, I would certainly suggest having a look at an i10.

I also know someone who owns a Toyota iQ and thinks that it is brilliant so that might be worth a look as well.

IQs quite a bit more expensive though isn't it.
Yeah IQ is like £10k for the basic model, also the Aygo is more than a Yaris atm... its mad!
A quick Google suggests the following "Scrappage" deals:
  • VW Fox - £5,110
  • Toyota iQ - £7,763
  • Hyundai i10 - £5,600?
So yes, the Toyota is VERY much more expensive. I'm not sure that you can actually get the Hyundai i10 on the scrappage scheme for some strange reason

Clearly things like performance will mean nothing to her, so if you want to persuade her to get an i10, tell her things like it has aircon (I don't think the Fox does as standard) and stuff like that :p

Also I imagine the 5yr warranty might be good if you intend to sell in 3 years time, having 2 years left on the warranty has to be a good point for keeping resale value?

My other half got an i10 on scrappage in September. It is a decent car - what more do you expect for under £5k new? She does around 70 miles a week and is happy.

Students with new cars... things have obviously changed a bit since I was at uni nearly 20 years ago. I guess standards have slipped a bit too, because in nobody's world is 9% a good interest rate.

Listen to the people posting here - don't buy a new one, even on scrappage. Get a decent 2nd hand one for far less.

Well its not really is it, its a pretty poor car redeemed by the fact its very cheap.

An Alba television is 'good' if you look at 'for the money' but by any other objective measures its poor.

I read the title and thought we were trading fox for an '09 poster !

As for the Fox, its worse than the Lupo it replaced, not a great start really !
