VX Rearended - Maybe written off

Awesome! :D

Whats with the snails? lol

The snails came when my girlfriend sent me that picture, to indicate the pace of the work..:o

The toe in/out setup is actually very, very accurate using that method. By measuring from the kite string to the wheel centres and adjusting you form two absolutely parallel lines either side of the car from which you can measure the distances at the front and rear of the rim which indicates which way the wheel is pointing.

Very nearly there now!

Left to do:
- Paintwork correction/clean/pollish
- Fit stonechip film on rear arches
- Fit (development) rear brace bar and swap tierod joints
- Remap and 2.4 throttle body fit at Courtenay Sport
- Refit rear undertrays
- Swap windscreen wiper

Yes, certainly quids in. I lost my original spreadsheet but I think all in I spent about £5,000. That includes two sets of tyres and one set of alloys though.

The payout was £10,750 and I bought back the salvage for £1,900. I also got a £3,000 settlement for the personal injury (whiplash and sprained wrist).

Was that £1900 the offer they gave you, or could anyone have gone to the salvage and bought your VX for that price? Sounds like you have done well out of it money-wise.

It was their fixed offer based on % value of the car, presumably they'd have sent it straight to a salvage auction whereupon the price it would have gone for would have been much higher.

very nice. you have done very good job!

did you do the dash your self? ive got a spare one and thinking about getting it covered like yours.

how much is it to fit the 2.4 manifold? ive herd great things about them!

europa blue was my first choice colour. lush

Yes, it's not too tricky to do using sprayglue and a staple gun, the only tricky bit is the front edge as there is a curve which means you need to cut or fold it underneath to keep it tidy.

I think it's about £200 on the latest group buy plus a few other bits. Courtenay are expecting the 2.4 throttle body when sorted to produce more power however.
