Hiya,

Well been spending money I haven't got yet hehe but what are peoples thaughts on these two cars?

Are they practical as "my only car" kinda car.

Also, what other suggestions do people have? Doesn't have to be a soft top, but I don't want a tank. As you can tell I don't know much about cars :)

Dare I ask how old you are. Im guessing sub 25. If this is the case you're going to stuggle for insurance, sub 21 and you might as well push the 18 months for another 3 to 4 years.

edit, profile says 26. Ignore me then

Yeh I type like an idiot on the forums! I have a Fiesta ST atm which I bought new in 05. My insurance is reasonable now! I will be 27/28 when I will want a new car. I already have the full 5 years NCB, had it since I was 23 I think.

I don't know much about cars, my old man tried to teach me stuff in my teens but I wasn't interested then. Am taking an interest now though and really like the VX220 and S2000. If I have read around correctly they are immensly fun to drive!

Sam what happened? I gotta know now!

I like the Elise, but got scared as my old man said the running costs will be really high, a lot higher than an S2000. Sounds like the VX220 can be just as expensive.

The better move maybe the S2000, Honda's are rock solid aren't they? Will have to test drive one.

Back to the VX220 I was only looking at the baby version, the non turbo. Is that version ok?

This.

Either car as a first car is liable to kill you. I would seriously not recommend a RWD sportscar to someone as their first car.

I' am 26 and don't drive dangerously. I haven't had a "performance car" before. I had a Renault Clio "99 when I was 18 and at 22 bought my Fiesta ST. It was a huge step up but never nearly killed myself init. I am a sensible kinda chap so should be ok with a RWD car.

hhmmmm that 350Z someone got looks nice :p

if you're looking at the S2000, take a look at the DC5 too, has rear seats, so a bit more practical

Thanks Bledd, never seen one of those before! Looks comparable to a Celica, will have to investigate it! The Integra looks a little sporty without looking to loud, need to be taken seriously at work & avoid the "boy racer" look. Some people at my old workplace commented on my Fiesta ST when I got it :(

I think I have ruled the VX220 out, it would be too small, I'm a big bloke, I would look stupid getting in and out lol.

S2000 is still on my radar, now reading about Merc SLK's. They seem to be all over autotrader and pistonheads. The SLK and the S2000 look like "adult cars", so I won't look a ***** in the works car park.

Looking at other cars, what should I consider? I don't think I can justify the running costs of a TVR Chimera or a 350Z for example.

What coupe or soft top would people recommend that won't cost me loads in running costs, cheap parts etc etc.
