VXR Trackdays this year?

not at all

You get an outlap, a flying lap, then an in lap with an instructor. Then you join a bus stop style Queue for another car to go out in.

There are no dual controls, no rev limiters, no limtis on speed. Just the knowledge that if you arse about, they'll bring you in and throw you out. So do as the instructors tell you and drive sensibly. Overtaking is allowed providing the other instructor waves you across (they are very good about doing this and can see when a faster driver is behind)

Top tip, go for one of the least popular and older cars (eg the astra VXR) and you need never queue. Last year everybody ran for the VXR8s, this year it will be the insignia VXR. I had the same instructor none stop for 45 minutes last year. Each time we came in, there was nobody queuring and about 4 or 5 astras sat doing nothing. So we went back out again. In the end we didnt bother comming up and just went round and round. I learnt a hell of a lot about the lines, and track driving and really improved the smoothness of my laps. Was excellent fun.

Then went and drove the VXR8, when it was much quieter towards the end of the session :) Didnt bother with the Corsa or the Zafira.

That was great last year, was in the session after you and that damp made it interesting :D

Annoyingly this year they all seem to be a long long way from Leicester, but will see what i can do :)

Went to Brands Hatch in 2008 and was great fun. Would like to go again this year, for £95 it really is a bargain. Have done a couple of rally days before which are more expensive with hardly any lap time compared.

When i went someone did manage to bin the back end of the VXR8 into the tyre wall on the last lap causing quite a bit of damage. Saw it happen as i was behind them and i think the person driving wanted to make the most out of his last lap and got a bit carried away.

Really only drove the Corsa or Astra as they were usually available. As said instructurs were very good but also due to different driving styles it was sometimes hard to learn as they would tell you different things and tell you not to do something you just learnt from the previous instructor.

It absolutely hammered it down at brands last year about 15mins before the session started in the morning.

And off I went at full speed like a maniac :D:D:D

Ha, i went in the afternoon and you guys had dried off the racing line :D

Theres one going on on Wednesday. I may have a spot on it

Knowing someone who works at Vauxhall has its advantages   - If it gets confirmed I'll let you guys know which track etc.

Heres the Track day details

http://www.vxronline.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=75965

Booking forms go on-line "end of february" so any time in the next couple of weeks. I'll keep you posted as soon as they do.

I'm going to the croft one on July 28th if you fancy a meet up ? Provided you turn up to the same session we can just ask to all be included in the same group :)

I prefer the morning sessions as they are usually a bit quieter, most people cant be arsed be to be there for 9am so you find it easier to get a car.

First Track Day is 16th of june.

Still a VXR trackday....either way I'm eagerly looking forward to my phone going off tomorrow to let me know if I'm in or not :D

well no, its not a VXR track day.

You might be going on some event hosted by vauxhall for their partners, but its not the VXR track days that we all go on every year that this thread is about.

If day plans out exactly how it would off one of your 'official' ones what difference does it make? It's still a day out for £95 thrashing vxrs round a track etc.

You'd still have to pay the £95 for it? Yet its a corporate day?

Why does nothing you post ever make any sense :p

whatever is happenning "wednesday" isnt the day out thrashing cars for £95.

Its something else - thats my point.

This is much more likely to be some corporate entertainment do for vauxhalls partners. I very much they are then going to start charging £95 a go and making people queing at these sorts of events. They are there to flatter customers and generate business, you dont generate business by making your customers wait and pay for hospitality lol !

What your mate is inviting you too will probably be a lot better than what joe public will be going to. But i wont be the same format as their VXR track days. It could be anything, ive no idea how much track time or if the instructors will be there etc.. !

You said yourself that "Knowing someone who works at Vauxhall has its advantages" so its bound to be some sort of corporate do, as ive already posted the normal VXR track days for £95 dont start till june.

Well I'm assuming :p - I said to her tonight "do you know anything about the VXR trackdays?" she said "Yeah theres one going on next Wednesday, can't remember which track its at, why, do you want to go?"

You can imagine my reply, she'll let me know tomorrow. I *think* it may be something for Vauxhall employees themselves, but I'm not sure. Either way, providing I get to rag the nuts off some VXR'ness (which admittedly I've been wanting to do for a while) I'm not entirely fussed :p

a pint says she's got mixed up and there isnt a VXR track day next wednesday. I'll be at this years RR meet if you wish to collect :p

I'll do a printscreen of the convo result regardless of what it is :p :) - It wasn't like a "err a vxr trackday? yeah I've heard of them, I think ones on Wednesday" it was a pretty assertive "Oh yeh, ones on next week" - Fingers crossed :)
