Heres my intended layout for my server case mod
I will be running an e6600 on a Gigabyte DS3P and possibly a 320mb 8800

I was thinking of using a swiftech 120 premium kit 3/8 tube stuff and buy an extra radiator and a 120mm fan blowing in from the bottom to blow a bit of cool air in there.

what do people think? the only prob is that one of the radiators will be completley internal and will only have the case air to cool the radiator? but i cant find anywhere else to put a dual 120 radiator

If you cannot get a 120.2 in that huge case something is wrong. I would be trying to get a 120.3 in there personally.

edit/ maybe try this

I won't be hosting this for long so save and rehost it if you want.

Basically, it keeps you main design features (the res steals a great rad place)

Mount a 120.2 completely internal (must be on a sealed panel that separates top from bottom, with few air leaks.)

Mesh in top and bottom, no fans mounted on case sides (quiet)

General airflow going up provided by rad fans.

Gota be a winner, will need some modding around PSU area too.

thanks :) yeah it is a bugger about the Res, but thats gonna be a cool little gimmick :P that means i can use 1/2 tubing aswell :) i think everything on that diagram will work, i didnt really want mesh on the top of the case tho, however i i could change the the 10cm diameter circle window on the top into mesh rather than perspex and make it about 14cm diameter would that be enuff?. and a flat bit of 2mm steel across the case for a platform for the radaitors, do they have to be raised above it not flush?

Thanks Frizzy

As you have to mod the PSU panel, you might want to make the whole of that panel a mesh with the PSU in it. That way the top an remain as you planned it.

Seriously try to get a PA120.3 rad in there (I'm sure it will fit) only a bit more than a 120.2. My tubing route is way shorter than yours too = better flow.

I'm not sure what you mean about the "raised above it not flush" bit, if you mean can a rad mount direct to a panel on the intake side, the answer is yes. The only reason (and a small one) to use a shroud is when direct to fans. The rads inherently have a small shroud built in anyhow.

For this to work well it will be important to seal the 2 box areas with the rad panel so the only way through is through the rad. By making your case a plenum box with a baffle you won't need case fans.

Get the dimensions of the 120.3 from thermochill.com and find a way to get it in there.

Go on son, do me proud. It will b nice when finished. :D :D

MODS - you should close this thread..!!

It should just continue with his project log in case central.
