hi, got comp of family member to put itunes on it and was just wondering f x should be this slow?
xp i think service pack3 and 1 gb of memory would another stick greatly improve it.at the moment it has 90 odd processes run in task manager and every task takes an eternity to do.

XP should run nicely on 1Gb (my old clunker doea!) but mine only has about 45 processes running, and I still think thats too many!...

Best be is to go onto t'interweb, find all the drivers etc for the hardware in the system, save em to a CD and also back up any data you want to keep (emails, documents, piccies etc..)

Re-Format the Drive and re-install Windows (SP3 should also be installed!!) and start from scratch!...

But Yeah.. XP is a little slow, if you'r used to Vista with 4Gb or Win7 with 2Gb (or more for both)

and if i just threw another gb in there would it help it? had to much fun with this thing.
dont fancy reinstalling everything as i know i'll forget 1 thing and that will be what she wants to use now

90 processes! Seems waaay over the top to me - i would get task manager up and have a looksie at the process list - if you family members use they're PC's like mine - there could be any number of trojans/viruses installed and merrily slowing the PC down.

And adding another stick of RAM would certainly improve matters imo.

dont think there will be virus/troj as they have no bband.but then again since i've had comp what 5 days it has'nt stopped d/l updates and service packs
90 prosses did seem over the top from memory i think i used to have about 40/50 when i had xp, makes me love my w7 even more
