Nope no big updates today on mine.

Did you used your PC a day ago? Are you on latest Windows 10 April Update 1803 Build 17134.48?

If you have Windows 10 fully up to date then it probably some big update for your online games such as GTA V or others.

Not all devices get the latest updates available at the same time - plus with 1803 there have been various blocks put on the update for some hardware that have or will be released at different times i.e. Toshiba SSDs, etc.

https://winaero.com/blog/how-to-see-update-history-in-windows-10/ should show you if an update has been applied recently and/or the updates page in control panel will show you any that are in progress.

Well all my 5 devices had been updated to 1803 through Windows Update.

I looked in update history on my 8700K desktop, there was 3 quality updates, 1 driver updates and 1 other updates. Checked Microsoft Update Catalog for updates file size:

Quality Updates (3)

2018-05 Security Update for Adobe Flash Player for Windows 10 Version 1803 for x64-based Systems (KB4103729) - 20.9MB X64 & 10.2MB X86

2018-05 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1803 for x64-based Systems (KB4103721) - 326.5MB X64 & 148.6MB X86

Security Update for Microsoft Office 2010 (KB4022137) 32-Bit Edition - 17.4MB X64 64-Bit Edition & 8.2MB X86 32-Bit Edition

Driver Updates (1)

Intel Corporation - SoftwareComponent - 4/24/2018 12:00:00 AM - 2.0.101.44269 (Intel(R) Software Guard Extensions Platform Software Component) 2.7MB

Other Updates (1)

Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool x64 - May 2018 (KB890830) 60.1MB

My deskop running Windows 10 1803 X64 was downloaded 5 updates total size was 427.6MB so it was not a huge 9GB update after downloaded and installed 1803 from Windows Update with file size only 3.46GB for X64 and 2.62GB for X86.

It possible OP had huge 9GB update could be come from Microsoft Store updates for apps and games.

Some driver differences aside - the devices on my network that have done the 1803 update have used (for updates) 4.06, 4.07, 4.08 (weirdly all very close), 6.02, 4.51GB.

The 6GB one something went weird on that system and it kept trying to reinstall the 1803 update every few hours :(

EDIT: Hmm I'm sure some of those devices are setup to share updates locally and have been on at the same time though.

I've not been prompted for 1803 yet. I don't want it yet either as I plan on reformatting my PC when the time arrives and just doing a clean install. Does anyone know if the Windows 10 ISO on MS site has been updated to 1803?

Almost daily we have computers coming in at work with issues post update, I wasn't a massive fan of 10 anyway but it's making me hate it more and more with every day that passes.

I guess it keeps me in work though!

Nice if you are getting paid for it - I've had to help out a few family/friends post this update and I don't get paid (and not asking for anything) from it. Maybe I should redirect them your way :p

Funny to think how so many used to use the term around here. "PEBKAC" Strange to see how you rarely see that used with all these complaints and issues across the world for Windows 10.

I’ve stopped blaming users now. I always blame Microsoft. As time goes on their OS’s really do suck. Ubuntu and macOS is doing better than they are at present.

Microsoft need to stop making their OS for every single hardware manufacturer and do what Apple is doing where as they only support certain hardware configs IMO. Means their systems will be more stable.

Windows 10 is stable but the testing teams and roll out is beyond abysmal. There was a time I once never had to worry about updates. Now you never know if it's going to break, not bootup and whatnot. After all, look how many times they've pulled big updates.

Though you could say with all these botched updates the stability is going down the pan somewhat for so many people out there.

We've never had a problem with Windows 10 updates at our place. Although we only have about 40 systems on at any time, but so far they've been very stable.

The Windows Server updates on the other hand.....
