Im currently doing some work on a friends W202 2.8 Merc, a recent aquisition for them (and now I have it here im thinking hmm!) but im stuck with trying to get into the boot.
It looks very much like the lock is broken and/or the key doesnt fit (though it does fit in all the other locks on the car) and Im in need of charging /changing the battery.
Ive already removed the rear seats, but access is blocked off as its all solid panels, so, apart from drilling the locks - does anyone know of any other ways to get into it? (or indeed if there is a lock release hidden in the car somewhere?)
Cheers

Maybe one in the driver's footwell?

If the battery is in the boot, there should be points for trickle charging/jump starting it in the engine bay.

Yup, get it powered off something else from the engine bay.

Positive should be labelled up, and just find a good earth somewhere in th bay.

Voila, power to pop the boot :)

Theres a boot release button on the remote.

Aah - I only have 1 Merc key and some 'alarm'.....no proper Merc remote :(

Do you have the handbook? If there is some kind of override it should say in there.

No handbook either....this came from a police auction, with very little info!!

Couldnt find a decent positive in the engine bay, the positive on the start motor is a devil to get too (from underneath and above).......but managed to locate where the positive breaks through under the car.

Power to the car at last.....only to find starship mileage and that 1 window doesnt work :( Still couldnt find a way into the boot....until 'ye olde' hammer made an apperance and hey presto - the button can now be pushed in :D (lock still doesnt work but as long as it can be locked/unlocked from inside the car, im not bothered)

One project coming up I think!!

LMAO! Police auction?

Do you really want to know who, erm, what's in the boot?

I could see some bits...and what looked like a new car radio box along with an old car radio....found the search warrant on the front seat :D  unfortunatley, the box is empty, no dead body, no stash of money / drugs - all a bit of a non event :( (door panels next, just to be sure!)

Had a quick drive up and down the garage area tonight, brakes and gears work as expected.

This is after 3.5 hours with a jet wash and sponge (it had been sitting under a tree for a year and was FILTHY) I 'think' with a mop and some G3/G10 it should come up OK, just need to sort the other side out now (it has a couple of dents!! to say the least)

Total cost so far £355 (including £110 transport costs)

Hmm - knew this was going too welll....by well...I mean it needs lots of work (rear window doesnt work, engine loom has done the usual and split its insulation) but hadnt found anything dodgy....yet :D

Tonight I started pulling the old alarm out, along with the Nokia car kit, had to dig around in the headlining and found

1 passport
5 credit/debit cards - unsigned!!!

Wonder what else awaits me within this here Mercedes!!

Much appreciated, will did out the VIN then go download it - cheers :D
