Ok,been reading a few threads about ssd and am getting a bit twitchy about this,i got all my essentials onto DVD discs!
Im gonna do a fresh install of w7 onto my crucial ssd 64gb which is arriving today, everythin else will be left on my 500gb samsung
my current os, (w7)will be still on my samsung.is it ok to leave it there as i plan this to be my back up if the ssd goes wrong

As long as the drive is not connected during install onto the SSD and set up to boot after the SSD in the boot sequence it shouldn't cause a problem.

I have plugged in drives to my PC from other PC's which have an OS on them and because they come after my drive in the boot sequence it just loads from my drive.

If it is the M4 you are getting I would also burn the 0009 firmware onto a disk so that you can update the firmware before installing windows.

Also make sure the Storage Controller/Sata mode is set to IDE when you update the firmware and make doubly sure you set it back to AHCI before installing windows so that you don't have to reinstall like I did when I got my first SSD :D
