W7 partition issue - help!

I've blundered through my first install of W7 HP on a brand new 500GB HDD. I selected advanced drive options, with a view to creating a 50GB partition for system files/programs. Problem is, W7 only sees the 50GB, and the rest is listed as unallocated in Device Manager. Do I need to reinstall?
