W7 XBMC New user Help Needed

Don't bother with any of these automatic file naming things, they are usually crap and its really no bother doing it yourself as long you understand what structure XBMC is looking for.

For my TV shows I have one folder named 'TVShows'.
Within that folder is another folder named 'Band of Brothers'
Within that folder is another folder named 'Season 1'
Within that folder are the episodes named 'Band of Brothers.S01E01.mkv'

They don't have to be in that format its just what I use.
 
How are you guys doing the folder structure for Music?

I was hoping i could just dump all albums into the 'Music folder' like,

C:\ - Music - Chris Brown - F.A.M.E Deluxe (2011) and so on but had no luck

do i have to do

C:\ - Music - Artists - Chris Brown - F.A.M.E Deluxe (2011)

If so, that's going to take me a loooong time :(
 
So you have Music - Artist Name - Album Name for all?

See, i have just Music - Artist Name-Album Name

So i need to change it to Music - Artist - Album? :-|

Hi mate,

No luck, i think it's because its not on IMDB. How can i make it search there instead for this instance, tried the refresh, it doesn't find it.

Hi guys,

Quick question - does anyone view music dvds through XBMC and if so is there any way of keeping it seperate from your films? Also does anyone use it to view actual song videos and if so, again, how is it kept seperate and viewed.

Have a search for music videos on the XBMC forums.
I am pretty sure some themes have separate views for these using the library system but they probably require a particular way of setting up.
 
I've sorted the music problem and so far added 300 albums.

I just also got a 1tb HDD as an early fathers day present so ripping DVDs :D

I've had a go at getting that Panda DVD to pick up automtically and I can't get it work either.

Its the first time that I've had one fail on me :mad:

Just when I thought I couldn't get surprised anymore with what the internet can offer, I get 'Ice Films'

amazing add on, cant believe it. It has everything on it. Fantastic, this is a 'Must have add on'


2 questions though.

Any way to actually 'save' the tv shows, films etc? from ice films.

and any other 'top' add ons I should look at? Only got XBMC a few days ago so am still learning the 'ropes'

I have the Neon skin, which is very nice.

Anyway, Need some help again but i am learning a lot :)

I have ripped my max and pay disc and also John Bishop live, i want to add them under 'TV Shows' but how do i do it?

They are just one seperate .iso each and so i cant add episodes etc

How could i do it?

I have:

F: - TV Shows - John Bishop Live - JohnbishopLive.iso
 
Just had a look and there is a download link/ablity within Ice Films add on. Just press 'C' when at the actual Megaupload file and it will give you that option.

You have to tell it a directory first though within the ice films add on.



As for your questions about TV shows, I just have a folder on my HD which is called TV shows and then I point the tv shows bit of XBMC to that, job done.
 
Realistically for max and paddy, you need to rip the disc as individual episodes for it to work properly. I use makemkv, and its quite easy to see how to do it from there.
