Wait for New Intel CPU Socket - Sensible?

As far as im aware of, intel will be bringing a new generation of CPUs out next year witch wont work on today's motherboards because of the change in socket type and they will also be much more faster performance than the Penryns because they are intel's next gen, im i right?

If you can wait a few months for a PC upgrade then you obviously dont need it.. thats the way i look at it. upgrade as and when you need and dont bother holding out unless its literally a matter of weeks imo

also even when a new tech comes out you dont tend to loose out in terms of price / performance.. sometimes you do more than others.

for example if you brought a top end graphics card before 8800GTX you would have lost out

if you brought a dual core 939 just before AM2 came out.. then you've not really lost a lot

thats how i look at it all yet (and yes its all very subjective)

anyway, what im saying is by the sounds of it you dont NEED to upgrade your computer so dont bother. But if you do then theres no point sacrificing yourself and waiting just do it!

Still on a S939 3700+

I really dont fall for all the hype and I still consider mine fast enough the problem is I am going to need a major upgrade next. Im just holding out until the games become unplayable at decent settings. So probably looking at upgrade on the next gen nVidia cards next year.

I'm in the same boat sort of, my next upgrade is a total system and I keep thinking next month I'll start the build but then ask myself why as I can run all my games well enough as it is.
