When BD launched after a few weeks phenom x4-x6 prices went up!
I've had doubts about going for an AMD system as they are not looked fabourably upon compared to an i5. However I'm not looking to run games or overclockers. But I have seen some comparisons of hdd speed and the i5 still trumps the Amd 6100.
Amy advice? The i5 3750k is almost twice as much as the fx 6100.
i also need support for Io virtulisation.
I'm still hanging on to my AM3+ board, do we know if Piledriver will work in AM3+ boards?
K series CPUs lack IOMMU. However, even with CPUs which have IOMMU,you need a motherboard with a compatible BIOS and chipset whether the CPU is AMD or Intel.
It's nearly impossible to tell! A few forums have got very conflicting reports.
The issue is I want a chep MB but need 3 PCIe slots (x8) for GPU, RAID and fibre card!

Can't be that far off now then?
Not wanting to start a flame war but AMD seems so overhyped its true. for out an out power, go intel, if you just want a rig for general daily use Im sure they're fine but intel is the choice for Gamers and Multimedia workhorses IMO
AMD has made HUGE progress with the new FM2 chips, as rubbish as bulldozer ended up being, they are still making some great stuff, they're not over and done with yet![]()
