Not sure what my problem is here, motherboard/OS or router. However I have a wake-on-lan system working from my android devices which boots my computer at home ok, as long as I try it within 15-20mins of shutting the PC down, after this time it won't respond. The only way I can describe it is it's as if my router forgets the computer is attached to it. The lan port on the M/B is flashing orange though showing there is a live connection between them both.

Can any-one help? :(

my experience is small, but, although wake on an is OS independent, setting in windows (and bios) can still affect it.

have you checked the device settings in windows? perhaps there is a setting along the lines of "allow windows to switch off this device to save power" or similar that needs disabling? and wake on magic packet is set?

also check bios for settings relating to the lan port

Found the settings you mentioned and yes they were ticked, unticking "allow windows to switch off this device to save power" ghosts the two boxes below it which are "allow this device to wake computer" and "allow magic packet", however they do stayed ticked in their ghosted/greyed out form.

Doing this still has no effect though :-(

Id also say its to do with energy saving or power management of the ethernet adapter.

Its a windows setting on the Ethernet device controller.

Also there are two settings called WAKE Up from Shutdown, on my PC adapter I have them on.

I have these settings on also.

In the bios I dont have a wake on lan setting as such, just wake mode bios or o/s, then wake via pci-e which I have on as well.

I'm on virgin with a Super hub 1 router so it's a bit limited. Any idea how to do what you suggested on that? I have a DHCP reserved with mac and ip details which appears to stay but doesn't work.

Just been watching my router from a tablet after my pc was shut down and I slowly watched it drop off the bottom of connections after 10 minutes.

I have the super hub 1 atm and I've read it isn't supported. I've just upgraded my package and will be getting the 2ac soon so this is good news if yours works after 20mins?
