Can anyone recommend me a pair of walking shoes around the £60-80 mark. Roughly to do 15-20 miles in, standard terrain. Thank you.

Will you have a chance to break your new shoes in properly before going for the walk?

If not, Merrells are good for being able to put on and go, as they are nice and soft.

Are you a fan of Gore-Tex?

I bought a pair of these recently... https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07N2V35TQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1&psc=1

They're nothing special to look at but I have found them very good so far (I bought a second pair!). They're a similar comfort level to the Merrells I've had in the past, plus they're nice and light.

Trainer-style walking shoes are possibly where you should be looking first, especially if you're walking in the warmer months and on established trails.

Just a couple of pointers to hopefully help you along in your search :)

I've never really looked into proper walking shoes or boots. Been enjoying 15-20 mile walks twice a week now so thought I'd invest in a pair but no idea what to even look for. Been using just standard Adidas ultraboost trainers which are fine, but not the best of grip on certain terrain and don't think they will be any good in the wet.

When you say 'standard terrain' what do you mean?

Gore-Tex has its pros and cons, with its biggest pro being ''waterproof!'' and its biggest con being ''they don't stay waterproof for very long do they?!'' :p

Gore-Tex can also make for a hot foot (which can cause blister problems), although I have never experienced that, and they can take a while to dry inside if you do get them wet.

There's other waterproof types as well, I've got a pair of these Merrells which are very comfortable... https://www.amazon.co.uk/Merrell-Ad...ild=1&keywords=merrell&qid=1590873203&sr=8-44

I find myself putting the North Face ones on more though.

Well off road I mean haha. So through woods, but some routes have steep hills going up and down with loose stones, that's where the struggle for grip is. But I expect to step up and find harder routes as soon as my feet harden up more and my legs get more customed the distance.

House of fraser seems to have a sale on at the moment, so may grab a pair for merrels from there as seems can get a nice pair with a good discount.

The North Face ones I linked are quite flat-soled whereas the Merrells I linked have a more aggressive sole, so something like that would probably be better for loose stones.

Yeah, I'd give Merrells a go before anything else, especially if it's your first pair of walking shoes, they are very comfortable straight out the box.

Yeah will do. Got a voucher for there anyway and 20% off so can't harm for what it will cost. Thanks for the help =)
