So I got one of these new fangled wristbands, and I think it's working out for me. I'm very out of shape with a gut, a smoking habit but seem to be clocking in 5-10km a day without trying at a brisk pace, often up hill.

With the constant tracking the Gamification is driving me to jump off the tube a stop early and stomp to where i'm supposed to be going, this is all quite good - but I have pretty well defined legs and I guess improved cardiovascular, but it's doing nothing for my flabby upper body.

Any tips?

You can't out walk a bad diet!

What's your resting metabolic rate/basal metabolic rate? How many calories does your body need a day? How many are you eating a day?

Once you can provide answers to those questions you will get more of an idea how you'll have to change your lifestyle to shrink that gut!

There are free tools online you can use to calculate all the above. :)

Installed my fitness pal, that pretty much answers that. Calorie intake is way higher than what I get from exercise. Need to either exercises more or eat less calories. (or both!)

Don't forget that you burn a considerable amount of calories just being alive. This is why you need to calculate your BMR/RMR first.
