Sadly i live in a brand new build. It's stud wall ie: plasterbord. The tv is a 42'' LG. I'd really like to mount it up there, any advice??

The wall is part of the starway but it just wooden frame then plaster each side.

Read some thing about cut plasterbord out between beams and stick in some bracing making it's full solid then plaster board back up, fill, paint then i can screw the hell into it with some big wood screws. Same time i can feed HDMI, Aerial and power.

I looked into this, and I know it's not what you want to hear, but I eventually decided it wasn't worth the hassle and used a small cabinet and the stand. :(
Depends on the wall and where the supports run through it and if you can utilize one of those. Or...how handy do you want to get with gutting the plasterboard and building in support? There's no miracle method with plaster and you have to work with what you've got making some supports. Others have done it with success though, checkout audio visual forums.

I know where the 2 batton run down the length verticly and there 400mm apart. My thinking was to stick some 2x4 across them screwed in from the sides so nice and solid. No more nail the plaster back on then some filler for the cut, quick sand, lick of paint then fit the bracket. Also fitting the cable at some point as well

Yes.

Remember your tv is 18kg or more, so you need a good fixing.

Magic_x_uk Good idea, but remember you might have a nogin in the way, which stop you dropping the cables.
Most studs are at 16" centres 3x 16+48" the width of a sheet of plasterboard.
Start in a corner & meaure out 16", you should hit a stud, then another 16" to the next & next.

plan to. but in bedroom so can route some from loft down hopefully into bedroom wall cavity and out wall.

just dont know how you find then wood in the stud wall, just from knocking/tapping it.

Same here, I was only going to route the aerial down as thats loft mounted but upgrade the cable to a Russ Andrews. Power not sure yet, socket is to the left so might be able to do an up over and down on that. HDMI not even though of yet.

Tap or stud finder. Tap is easyer and cheaper. You can also do the lean test, if it flexs hollow, solid beam there

I was in the same situation with a new build with dot and dab Walls.

I used some special bolts designed for hollow walls that b&q sell for under £5 for 5. I had mounted a normal 42" LCD for a year with no problems although swapped to a super light led LCD last year which weighs around 6kg.

No problems what so ever.

As for cable routing you should have no problems buying some brush plates and drilling some decent sized holes and dropping the cables between the plaster board and breeze block. Can be a little fiddly but shouldn't take too long!

I can't imagine it's that difficult. I would screw a couple of lengths of timber horizontally between two vertical batons, then just fix the tv mounting plate to them. Or you could screw a square of MDF to the wall and bolt the plate on, would spread the load a bit better and be lower profile.

Interset screws or Brolly bolts are the fixings you require.

Put about 8 of these things in your wall and you could hang a small elephant on them (not really).

Going to do some marking up and locate whats in place and where today.

Have heared about using 18mm plywood bolted on the wall into the 2 vertical battons.

What you've written above is a solid option - however if you don't get round to it you could always try these first - a pack complete with tool cost me £15. Molly fastener. Some are rated at 40kg I'm sure 4 combined with a VESA mount would be ok but I've never tried it - has anyone else?

Mounted a 32" samsung to hollow wall using a few of those. It's been up, and stable for a month or so now.

In fact, the quality of the plaster was SO bad, that while drilling to expand the anchor portion of the plug, the toothed tip rotated in the plaster, rather than gripping. This almost turned it into a dremel going through the rapidly crumbling plasterboard.

To get around it, I anchored it in place over a small screwdriver until I had expanded the rear of it enough to catch the back side of the plasterboard, then removed the screwdriver and let it fix itself the rest of the way. This was only one of three plugs that were used (the other two went in pretty much OK themselves).

Had to give up on the fourth one as that section of board was so bad, so it's up there with 3 of the "heavy" versions of these plugs and a VESA mount.

I've been checking it daily for any signs of shifting/loosening etc. but it looks grand.

I was VERY surprised when I drilled into the wall to find absolutely no studs or timber. Both knocking it AND a stud finder seemed to indicate there were indeed vertical beams, but once I'd drilled in... nope!
