Any top tips for removing wall plugs from plasterboard without taking half the plaster around the exit hole with you?

I have filler and sandpaper but trying to save myself too much chew on.

I went with the screwdriver down the middle method and it isn't proving to be working well.

find a drill bit that's just slightly larger than the hole in the raw plug. drill right into the center of the plug, this normally spins them free.

Nah, cut the front of the plasterplug off with a Stanley blade or sharp chisel, then push the rest into the platerboard cavity.
