How do you/can you get different wallpapers for each monitor if dual screaning?

You can install something like Ultramon.

What graphics card are you using? You are better off using the graphics drivers for setting up multiple monitor and then Ultramon to help.

using a 6950, cant get it to work in catalyst either, it just tells me that the third display is disconnected and i cant see a way to activate it, its 100% plugged in correctly as i can swap between 2 of them, e.g 1-3 1-2 2-3, just cant find a way to have 1-2-3, only thing i can think of is my gpu doesn't support 3, i highly doubt a 6950 cant support 3, even considering it has 3 display connectors.
Thanks for your time btw.

A standard HD 6950 can support 3 monitors but at least one has to be connected via DisplayPort or an adapter from DisplayPort.

You can use DVI+DVI+DisplayPort or DVI+HDMI+DisplayPort.

But you can't use DVI+DVI+HDMI.

Sapphire do make a HD 6950 which allows use of DVI+DVI+HDMI but it's the only one that allows this combination:

Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 6950 FLEX 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card with upto 5 Monitor Support & with FREE DIRT3 Game

You're not allowed to link to competitors sites so I'd remove the link.

Yes you'll need to connect one monitor via DisplayPort.

AMD say you need an active adapter.

This is direct from AMD:

• A maximum of 2 legacy monitors (VGA, DVI or HDMI) can be enabled simultaneously, provided that each monitor is connected either directly or via a “passive” DisplayPort™ adapter/dongle. “Passive” adapters/dongles will NOT support more than 2 legacy monitors.

• To enable support for more than 2 monitors, “active” DisplayPort™ adapters/dongles are required (or monitors with direct DisplayPort™ connectivity must be used).

Check here and look at the active adapters:

AMD Eyefinity Validated Dongles

But then some people say they have it working without an active adapter

See post #17 in this thread.

Personally I wouldn't know as I only use 1 monitor.

Perhaps you should start a thread asking for users experiences of using 3 monitors on an AMD card with and without active adapters.

Sorry, it's best advice I can give :(
