im trying to connect a dell with an internal wireless card to a livebox
it connects , in the green but cannot acquire network address, what are the ip address, default gateway etc for this
any ideas??

It can't acquire an IP because it's MAC filtered. Setting your own addresses won't help.

The advice given in the other thread is sound - you need to press the button on the box and then connect. All will then work.

Had you read the instructions on the Wanadoo/Orange site, you'd've found that out.

i did ask the question
im trying to sort it for a friend, which is difficult when i cant be at his house.
the laptop works fine on my netgear set up -on BT
the problem is him connecting to his wanadoo, i suppose ill have to go around

Just tell him he needs to press the button marked '1' on the livebox, then he can join.

This only needs to be done the first time. Wanadoo do try and make these things idiot proof.

There's a perfectly good FAQ entry on the Orange/Wanadoo Livebox explaining how to connect a third party wireless adapter to it.

As said, I've just tested it now (mate canx his subs so it's at mine for some odd reason).

Plugged it in, pressed one for a second then kept searching for available networks - typed in wep key and it connected.
