Want more GPU Grunt

Mate. I feel for you. Whatever you have it'll be short lived performance wise. Wait and see what new generation cards offer. Then decide. Sometimes just throwing money at it won't always work (generally does but I'm no millionaire). SLI is a joke atm. Single card at this moment in time is the best way without emptying the bank.

You need to find that sweet spot for graphical settings. Max settings does not always net you much over say the default high settings. But the performance cost is normally very noticeable for what is hard to be seen in IQ.

Your 1080 is struggling?
I had Titan black in sli, same resolution as youand the game was at maximum settings and it was nice and smooth. I've just upgraded to a Skylake build with a 1080 which should be slot faster.
I couldn't tell you what FPS I was getting as I've never checked, I always go by how it feels.

Actually GTX1080 without Gsync struggles to deliver at 2560x1440
Let alone 3440x1440

However smogsy has a point and SLI is not the solution because it doesn't scale well. Only +50% to +60%

So smogsy you either wait until Volta next year, or sell a kidney for the TXP. (sarcasm @ Nvidia price tag).

Sell maybe the 1080 at the best price you can now and grab the TXP.

My advice is not to wait for the 1080ti because it will drop the second hand GTX1080 and 1070 values more than the 10-15% you will lose now.

(especially now that many 1080s are up 5-10% compared to 4 months ago).
